The plan

The crew hopes to launch on a weekend in late May or early June 2027, probably from Mayor Menino Park in Charlestown. The departure date and location are still to be confirmed.

The route passes through the Isles of Scilly, follows England’s southern coast, and heads up the Thames toward London. Weather and currents will shape the final track.

A continuous row

Two people row while two rest. Bryan’s plan calls for approximately one-hour daytime shifts and three-hour nighttime shifts. The expected crossing time is 40–50 days, depending on conditions.

Meet Nimbus

A 28-foot, self-righting Spindrift built in 2018, with two rowing positions. Nimbus is now stored at Hyannis Marina.

Solar power charges three lithium batteries for navigation, the watermaker, and Starlink. Freeze-dried meals and two Jetboil stoves provide food at sea.

Safety at sea

The planned equipment includes life jackets with AIS transponders, automatic inflation, lights, whistles, and strobes. Crew members will be tethered to the boat.
