THE BOAT & LIFE ON BOARD
Everything we need.
In 28 feet.
Meet Nimbus, the self-righting Spindrift built in 2018 for life on the open ocean.

Row, rest, repeat
The boat has two rowing positions and cabins for resting. The plan is a continuous crossing: two people rowing while two rest, with approximately one-hour daytime shifts and three-hour nighttime shifts.
Food & drinking water
Freeze-dried meals are heated using a Jetboil, with two stoves carried aboard. An onboard watermaker produces fresh water.
Power & communication
Bryan describes about 450 watts of solar power on a sunny day, charging three lithium batteries for navigation equipment, the watermaker, and Starlink. Navigation equipment includes Raymarine and a Garmin GPS.
Preparing for 2027
Nimbus is stored at Hyannis Marina. The crew is preparing the boat and its systems for the next expedition. Equipment details here describe the planned setup; preparation updates will be shared in the journal.
